How to Remove Pet Hair From Velvet Couch

Cleaning hair from furniture and carpets can be a challenge, mostly when you have pets shedding all over the house. Most of the time vacuuming can solve the problem, but what about the hair that sticks to some fabrics? Velvet, cotton velour, velveteen, velour leather, all beautiful and elegant, only one little problem, hair loves to attach to them.

There is a simple solution, so simple is genius!

Rubber, yes Rubber can remove hair from hard-to-clean fabrics and works on the couch, carpet, rugs, car seats, and any big area that can’t be washed easily.

Of course, there are other methods, one of them is lint rollers, and they work great, perfect for small jobs, like clothes, but for big jobs like a couch or carpet they are not so effective. They come in all sizes, you can find big ones made specifically for carpets. And they can be a good option, but if you notice that the hair is stubborn and still sticks to the fabric, is time to take the next step.

1- Rubber Gloves

Put on a rubber glove and run your hand through the fabric, the hair will come off with ease.

2- Squeegee

Use a squeegee, this is a good reason to always have one handy, is not only good for cleaning glass but also for removing hair.

3- Rubber brush

You can find them in all shapes and sizes, there are big ones for carpets and rugs and small ones that fit in the palm of your hand. If static builds up you can spray a little bit of water over the area to make it easier to remove the hair, just be careful not to spray too much.

Rubber is great for big jobs, and is also inexpensive, but there are other options that can be very effective too.

Damp sponge. If you don’t have gloves or a squeegee handy, use a damp sponge, and wring out as much water as possible.

Pet sponge. You can buy it online or at a pet store, great for small jobs, but they can be a little pricey.

Lint rollers. There is a big variety, there are small ones perfect for clothes, bigger ones for carpets, also can be a little pricey, they are definitely worth it for clothes. The ones with sticky sheets are perfect for small jobs, but you might need to use a good part of the roll for large jobs. There are washable lint rollers, that pick up the hair, when they’re full and can pick up no more, you rinse them with water, let them dry, and use them again, they work but not as well as the ones with sticky tape.

Adhesive tape. Also known as scotch tape or duct tape, very effective but for large jobs you will use a lot, and it can be very expensive.

Metal lint and hair remover. They come in all sizes, big for carpets, and small for furniture and clothes, they are like a micro comb that traps the hair as you slide it, like shaving. Very effective but they can tear the fabric if you’re not careful.

Vacuums. There are always new models that specialize in pet hair removal, some work better than others. Vacuuming is always helpful, but in some cases, it won’t remove all the hair. But even if you need to use another method to remove the hair, is always good to vacuum afterward for a deeper clean.
