How to Clean Shower Tile
The tile walls in the shower can be a challenge to clean, soap scum sticks to the tile and the grout, mold can grow in the grout, mostly in the corners.
As a cleaning professional this is the method I use to leave the shower walls clean and shiny
1- Spray vinegar on the wall
2- Scrub with dish soap
3- Wipe and dry with microfiber cloths
Here is the step by step with pictures:
1- Spray with undiluted white vinegar. Cover as much as you can, it has a strong smell but will go away fast
2- Scrub with dish soap. Add a few drops of dish soap in a cup of water and scrub the wall with it using a non-scratching scouring pad. You will notice how the soap scum starts dissolving almost immediately
3- Brush grout if is too dirty or if there is mold, specially in the corners
4- Rinse and dry with microfiber cloths. If you have a detachable shower head you can use it to rinse the walls, personally I prefer to wipe it with a damp microfiber cloth, then dry and polish with a dry microfiber cloth
Enjoy the fantastic results! Vinegar cleans, disinfects and shines, when used with dish soap will dilute soap scum, your shower wall will look as good as new!
- If you still have mold left, spray chlorine bleach directly to it, just a little bit, enough to damp the area and let it air dry
- If there is mold on caulk it will not be possible to clean, the only solution is to remove the caulk and apply new
- To keep your shower looking this great and avoid scrubbing again, wipe the walls with a mix of half water half vinegar and a damp cloth, dry afterwards, do it at least every 2 weeks
- Microfiber cloths are a must have, they are super absorbent and leave no lint behind, they make any job easier
