How to Clean a Glass Shower Door

If you have a glass shower door you know how hard it is to keep it clean, the ideal is to use a squeegee after every shower but some times that is not possible.

Soap scum and water stains can accumulate really fast and might be hard to get a shiny clear glass after that. Here is what I do when I need to restore a shower door to its original beauty.  As a cleaning professional this is the method I use because is fast and the results are amazing

1- Spray vinegar on glass.

2- Scrub with dish soap

3- Use a squeegee to remove soap

4- Dry completely

Here is the step by step with pictures:

1- Spray vinegar on the glass. Use a spray bottle and fill it with undiluted white vinegar, spray it all over the glass and let it sit a couple of minutes. This will start dissolving and loosen up soap scum and water stains

2- Scrub with dish soap. In a cup of water mix a few drops of dish soap and scrub the glass using a non-scratching scouring pad. You will see how soap scum dissolves as you scrub

3- Remove the soap with a squeegee. Use a squeegee to remove the soap, wiping it after each stroke. This will allow you to see if there are any stains left, don’t worry if you leave some streaks behind, we will take care of them on the next step

4- Dry and polish the glass to remove all left over residue and streaks the squeegee left behind, you can use paper towels or even better, a glass cleaning cloth if you have one

  • Use this method at least once a week to keep your shower door looking this great
  • If possible use a squeegee to wipe the glass after each shower
  • If you notice stains that can’t be removed by the vinegar and soap, scrape them using a scraping blade, the glass must be wet when scraping to avoid scratches
  • Glass cleaning cloths are incredible, they dry, polish, leave no streaks or lint behind and they save a lot of time. Read my article about it to learn more
